Technologies at Cranbrook Family Dental
By using the technology available to us at our clinic in Cranbrook, our team is able to diagnose potential oral health problems and come up with treatment plans to correct these conditions. Our technology also helps us individualize treatment plans based on client needs.
In our appointment rooms, we can display digital X-rays to show you any dental issues in your mouth and walk you through our plan to fix them.
Dental technology helps us achieve our goal of providing patients with care, while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health.
Digital X-rays
Using digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film, digital X-rays produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions. This allows your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-rays
A panoramic X-ray allows your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. These X-rays are often used to help plan extractions, orthodontics, and implants.
CEREC® Same-Day Restorations
Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) is an advanced dental system that allows for the precise fabrication and placement of ceramic dental crowns in a single appointment.
Dental Lasers
Our Cranbrook dentists use lasers for a variety of soft tissue, restorative, and cosmetic procedures. These include removing overgrown or decayed tissue, reshaping gums, hardening dental restorations quickly, and whitening teeth.
Intraoral Scanners
Intraoral scanners are an alternative to traditional dental impressions. In just a few minutes, your dentist can use the optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth. This device allows your dentist to capture accurate data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of X-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. These images even allow your dentist to analyze your airway, which can help when treating snoring and sleep apnea.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. It can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams in about two minutes.
