What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery includes the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects of the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth, and jaws.
We aim to use the least invasive treatment for your dental problems, but sometimes oral surgery is necessary when less invasive options aren't sufficient.
Regardless of the reason behind your oral health concern, your dentist will recommend the most appropriate treatment options.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically implanted into the jaw bone as part of the process to replace one or many missing teeth and help to restore your smile. Together with a tooth replacement such as a crown or bridge, a dental implant can look and feels much like a natural tooth.
Tooth Extractions
While it's always preferable to save a natural tooth, there are some cases where it's not possible. If a tooth is too badly damaged as a result of decay, gum disease, or injury, it may need to be removed by your dentist. If left in, a bad tooth can become infected and negatively affect your overall health.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. Unfortunately, the wisdom teeth are known to cause problems for your oral health as they can crowd your teeth and create oral hygiene problems. As a result, your dentist may recommend removing them.
Bone Grafts & Sinus Lifts
A bone graft is a procedure where your dentist adds bone tissue to your jawbone to make it stronger and denser. During a sinus lift, a bone graft is performed on the upper back jaw to add to the bone in the sinus area. This is usually done in preparation of the placement a dental implant.
